The University of Sydney Archaeological Excavations of the Paphos Theatre Site, Cyprus

2008 Season of Excavations at the site of the Paphos Theatre

The 2008 field season was conducted between 6 October and the 6 November 2008 under the auspices of the Department of Antiquities of Cyprus.

Three trenches were opened:

Trench 08B was located in the western parodos.

Trenches 08A and 08C were located in the southern area of the eastern parodos, each exploring other ends of long narrow structure with a mosaic floor, located between the theatre and an east-west running road surface previously partially excavated in 1996.  Considerable architectural fragments from the theatre's stage building were found dumped in this general area.
