2010 SEASON OF ARCHAEOLOGICAL EXCAVATIONS AT THE SITE OF THE PAPHOS THEATRE IN CYPRUS
STUDENT TEAM POSITIONS AVAILABLE FOR OCTOBER 2010
Expressions of interests are being sort for students of the University of Sydney or other tertiary institutions to participate in the 2010 season.
The University of Sydney has conducted excavations at the site of the Hellenistic-Roman theatre since 1995 for the Department of Antiquities. The theatre was constructed c.300BC and used for performance and entertainment for over six centuries until its final destruction by earthquake around 365AD. At its peak the theatre seated over 8000 spectators. There is also considerable Late Roman and Medieval period activity on the site. Work in 2010 will concentrate in the area of a Roman road to the south of the theatre. Successful applicants will work all aspects from excavation and site recording to basic finds processing.
Season Dates: 2 October to 7 November 2010 (5 weeks)
Cost: Approximately $1300 plus airfare (fees cover accommodation, food on work days and training and guided tours)

CONTIBUTING VOLUNTEER POSITIONS AVAILABLE FOR OCTOBER 2010
Share the excitement of excavating at the World Heritage listed site of Paphos in Cyprus! Expressions of interests are currently open for participation in the 2010 season. Work alongside archaeologists and students in a unique chance to discover the past.
