Cultural Activities

As well as the archaeological excavations and the scientific investigations at the site of the history of Cyprus, the Project has run a number of cultural activities over the years.  Many of these are the results of the work of Professor Diana Wood Conroy of the Faculty of Creative Arts at the University of Wollongong.  Diana has served as the artist-in-residence for the project since its inception and has brought a number of visual and creative artists to explore the project and the concepts of archaeology from a different approach.  Like the archaeological investigations, some of the cultural activities have received funding from the Australian research Council.

Book launches

On 20 November 2004 at the Nicholson Museum, the books Fabric of the Ancient Theatre and Fabrika were launched in Australia by the Cypriot High Comissioner to Australia, His Excellency Mr Achilleas Antoniades.


April 2007: launch of the paperback version of Fabric of the Ancient Theatre

In April 2007, the paperback version of Diana Wood Conroy's The Fabric of the Ancient Theatre was launched at the Australian High Commission in Nicosia, Cyprus.
